Reich Move Control

The latest technology to rock the caravan world is the Reich Move Control, designed to manoeuvre your caravan safely and easily with a touch of a button.

Move Control’s exclusive features enable you to move your caravan around any corner and to any site. The patented electronic control provides smaller turning circles for all vehicles – even heavy twin axle caravans.

From a loose gravel pitch to a steep grassy slope, Move Control allows your caravan to ascend gradients of up to at least 15 per cent – and even up to 25 per cent for some caravans, depending on the van’s weight. Prestige RV Marine will be a must-see stand at this year’s Melbourne Leisurefest, with an impressive selection of premium fibreglass and aluminium boats on show.

A sure highlight will be the Cruise Craft Explorer 685, designed to give families and serious fishing enthusiasts the ultimate platform for blue water fishing. Garry & Warren Smith Group

One of the most diverse offerings of four-wheel-drives at Melbourne Leisurefest is from the Garry & Warren Smith Group, with four different marques and a wide variety of vehicles sizes and body styles.

Whether you are seeking a compact or medium-large SUV, a dual purpose workhorse and leisure vehicle, or even something small enough to tow behind a big RV, there will be something to catch the eye.

Mazda offerings include the highly regarded CX-7 and the freshly revitalised BT-50. From Holden there will be the Captiva SUV and Holden’s new light commercial, the Colorado. Honda will be represented by the CR-V compact SUV, while Suzuki will have its newly upgraded Grand Vitara and the Jimny Sierra.

With three of the show vehicles being fresh to the market, many show visitors will get their first chance for a good close-up look at some of the latest contenders.

 

Revitalised Mazda BT-50 arrives

Garry & Warren Smith Mazda will feature the revitalised Mazda BT-50 on its Melbourne Leisurefest stand, giving a taste of the upgrades to the already popular BT-50 range.

Mazda has added seven new models to the BT-50 range, taking it out to 29 models across three body styles, two engines, two transmissions and a choice of four wheel drive and rear wheel drive. It comes in Single Cab, Freestyle Cab and Dual Cab bodies, and engine choices are 2.5-litre and 3.0-litre turbodiesels, both of them Euro IV compliant for minimal tailpipe emissions. Towing capacity is up to 3,000kg braked capacity, depending on the transmission.

Most models feature the 3.0-litre common rail, DOHC 16-valve diesel engine. Official fuel economy is 9.2 l/100km with manual transmission, and 10.4 l/100km with the five-speed automatic. The electronically-controlled, close-ratio five-speed automatic transmission is available on Freestyle Cab Utility SDX and across the Dual Cab Utility range from DX through to the range-topping Dual Cab SDX 4x4.

Audio systems feature either single-disc or six-disc CD systems with MP3 compatibility and an auxiliary audio jack for personal audio players. Keyless entry is standard on all models.

Colorado – Holden’s new name for tough

GM Holden has taken the covers off its new light commercial vehicle, the Colorado, with more than 30 combinations of model, powertrain, cabin, ride height and body style.

One of the highlights of the Garry & Warren Smith Holden display, Colorado promises high levels of performance and load carrying capability with car-like interior comfort. Turbo Diesel 4x4 variants offer a three tonne braked towing capability. Safety equipment includes driver and passenger airbags on al models, and three engines are available. The diesel option is a 3.0 litre four-cylinder common rail turbo diesel, and the petrol choices are a 3.6 litre Alloytec V6 and a 2.4 litre four-cylinder.

Topping the range is the Colorado LT-R sports variant, available in 4x2 or 4x4 versions. Features include sports bars, soft tonneau, side steps and sports interior trim, plus front fog lamps and 16-inch alloy wheels. ABS with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution) is also standard on LT-R. The 4x4 version of the LT-R 4x4 adds Rear Park Assist plus Bluetooth® capability for compatible phones.
