The Caravan Industry Association (CIA) has three great information resources for cavanners – and they’re all free. “Your introduction to Recreational Vehicles” is a half-hour video which explains all the questions anyone is likely to have when first considering the RV, caravan or camping lifestyle. For more detailed information in a print version there is the fifth edition of the National Caravan and Recreational Vehicle Towing Guide, detailing the legal requirements and terminology with clear and simple definitions of the various ratings for vehicle mass and loading. RVMAA Handbook
The Recreational Vehicles Manufacturers Association of Australia (RVMAA) has an ideal ready reference on caravans, trailers and RVs with the latest edition of its Owner’s Handbook. It is available free from the RVMAA stand at Leisurefest, where visitors can also win great BIG4 Holiday Parks prizes. The handbook covers everything from air conditioning and awnings to towing capacities and the RVMAA Code of Practice, including detailed information on safety-related issues such as braking systems, towing hitches, gas and electrical safety and overall maintenance.
